The theme of Parsifal inspired Paja Jovanović on several occasions and in several different ways, as it is witnessed by a number of preserved paintings and drawings. The theme was derived from the second act of the eponymous opera by Richard Wagner, featuring Parsifal in the enchanted garden of the evil magician Klingsor. This part of the story deals with the conflict between vices and virtues. The main protagonist of the scene is Parsifal, whose determined posture indicates power and resolution that stand in opposition to the allure of sensual female bodies surrounding him. The composition of the painting highlights the Wagnerian dramatic pattern based on the idea of self-command.

On the lithograph, below the image, the original inscription reads: "In Feenland" and "P. Joanowitch –- Verlag von J. Lowy, Wien, 1906. god.".
